This Kendriya Vidyalaya is situated in Lunglei, a picturesque
town which is located in the beautiful Lushai Hills in the state of
Mizoram. Lunglei is the second largest town in Mizoram and its name
has been derived from a stone bridge over a small river.This Kendriya
Vidyalaya is situated in the valley which is 5 km from the town and
is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges which are rich in flora
and fauna.Lunglei is approximately 240 km away from the state capital,Aizawl.From
some important scenic spots in Lunglei, the Arakan Hills can be seen
in the east and the Chittagong Hills Tracts can be seen in the west.
The main language used is the Mizo language.
Kendriya Vidyalaya, Lunglei was established in the year 2003 with
the sole purpose of providing quality education to the locals as well
as the wards of defence personnels posted in and around Lunglei.It
is a bilingual co-educational institution providing education from
Primary to class VII and remains the only Kendriya Vidyalaya in the
whole of Lunglei district. The Vidyalaya gives priority admission
to all the wards of Central Government employees.
Kendriya Vidyalaya,Lunglei is among around other 930 K.V.s which runs
under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan(K.V.S.),18,Institutional
Area ,Shaheed Jeet Singh Marg,New Delhi-16. K.V.S. is an autonomous
organization, well patronized by the Department of Education, Ministry
of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Region wise, it
is controlled and guided by K.V.S. Silchar Region with its Regional
office at Hospital Road,Silchar-
As all other K.V.s ,this vidyalaya is affiliated with the Central
Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E.), New Delhi, and falls under
its Allahabad region. Though affiliated with CBSE ,the Vidyalaya follows
the curriculum devised by the National Council of Educational Research
and Training (N.C.E.R.T.) along with that of CBSE.Like other schools
under its sister concern Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, which is fully
residential,Kendriya Vidyalayas,with no exception to K.V. Lunglei,endeavours
to provide technology aided education so as to produce the ever-vigilant
future generation of India. The Vidyalaya has been blessed with a
good staff and the faculty members are all highly educated, dedicated
and passionate about their noble profession. On the whole, K.V. Lunglei
strives to provide wholesome and enriching education aimed at all
